Estate sale operators do not need to be told to work harder. Most are already working long hours organizing, pricing, marketing, managing shoppers, conducting sale days, and handling everything that happens afterward. Building a better estate sale business is not simply about doing more. It is about developing better systems, using the technology and information now available to us, and making more strategic decisions about how we operate and market our sales.
That is why September is officially “Build a Better Estate Sale Business” Month at the Institute for Estate Sale Professionals. Throughout September, all IESP courses and certifications are 50% off. I am also introducing a new series of weekly live workshops where estate sale operators can explore timely industry topics in a less formal, more interactive atmosphere.

Weekly Live Workshops with Jenna
Each Monday evening, we will explore one topic that can help operators improve the way they organize, market, manage, and evaluate their sales.
These are not intended to feel like formal lectures. We will look at real examples, discuss what is currently happening in the estate sale industry, and leave room for questions and conversation.
Workshops will be held virtually from 6:00–8:00 PM Central Time. Each workshop is $20 and will be recorded for those who would like to purchase it afterward.
You do not need to be an IESP student to attend. These workshops are open to all estate sale operators.
September 7 — Introduction to Preoffers
What I’ve learned from using EstateSaleFinder.net’s new Preoffer System while running my actual estate sales—and why other operators should consider using it in their own businesses.
Traditional estate sales often require shoppers to stand in long lines before opening just for the chance to purchase a few highly sought-after items. The Preoffer Process gives shoppers another option while helping operators generate sales before opening day. In this interactive workshop, Jenna will explain how the system works, share what she learned from using it in actual estate sales, and discuss the benefits, challenges, and changes operators should consider before introducing preoffers into their own businesses.
You'll also hear from shoppers about why they love this new and innovative way to shop, including how they pickup their items on VIP Shopping Day.

September 14 — Estate Sale Technology
A closer look at tools available through EstateSaleFinder.net that can affect the way we organize, market, manage, and operate our sale days.
FINALLY technology is changing what is possible before, during, and after an estate sale. In this interactive workshop, Jenna will take a closer look at tools available through EstateSaleFinder.net and how they can support item cataloging, online offers, inventory control, shopper activity, and sale-day operations. Operators will explore how the right technology can reduce confusion, improve efficiency, and create a more organized experience for both teams and shoppers.

September 21 — Understanding Estate Sale Analytics
How your numbers tell the story of a sale—and what views, offers, purchases, and shopper activity can teach you about your marketing and processes.
Until now, estate sale operators haven’t had much access to meaningful analytics about their sales. EstateSaleFinder.net’s new tagging system is changing that. In this workshop, we’ll explore all of the information we can now track throughout an estate sale, what those numbers can tell us, and the many ways this data can help us make better decisions about our marketing, processes, inventory, labor, and overall sale performance.

September 28 — Estate Sale Marketing
Estate sale marketing should do more than announce the dates, address, and a general list of items to the same broad audience. In this interactive workshop, Jenna will explore how to identify the shoppers most likely to be interested in a particular sale and create marketing that speaks directly to them. Operators will learn how to use a sale’s inventory, shopper interests, marketing channels, and available analytics to attract the right buyers instead of relying on the broad marketing methods of the past.

Let’s Build Better Businesses Together
The estate sale industry is changing. New technology, better data, and new ways of reaching shoppers are creating opportunities that did not exist for operators in the past.
September is a chance to explore those opportunities, ask questions, learn from real experiences, and begin making thoughtful improvements to your business.
I hope you will join me for “Build a Better Estate Sale Business” Month at IESP.
