Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how the Institute for Estate Sale Professionals ("IESP", "we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and shares personal information when you visit our website, create an account, enroll in a course, sit for a certification, subscribe to our newsletter, or otherwise interact with our services (collectively, the "Services").

1. Information we collect

Information you provide directly. When you create an account, enroll in a course, contact us, or subscribe to our newsletter, we collect information such as:

• name, email address, and (optionally) firm/company and location;
• login credentials managed by our authentication provider;
• profile information you choose to add (bio, photo, headline);
• messages you send us through the contact form;
• examination responses, quiz answers, and course-progress data;
• content submitted through admin tools if you are a credentialed instructor or administrator.

Payment information. Payments are processed by Stripe. We do not receive or store your full card number; we receive a transaction record (such as amount, last four digits, and status) needed to fulfill your enrollment.

Automatically collected information. When you use the Services, we and our providers automatically collect limited technical information such as IP address, browser type, device information, pages viewed, referring URL, and timestamps. Video playback (delivered via Mux) generates delivery and progress data used to power lesson tracking and certificate issuance.

Cookies and similar technologies. We use strictly necessary cookies and local storage to keep you signed in, remember preferences, and secure the Services. We do not use third-party advertising cookies.

2. How we use information

• operate the Services, provision course access, track lesson progress, administer examinations, and issue certificates;
• process payments, refunds, and enrollment records;
• respond to inquiries submitted through the contact form;
• send transactional emails (account creation, enrollment confirmations, certificate issuance, password resets);
• send newsletters and educational updates if you have subscribed (you may unsubscribe at any time);
• publish the credential registry (name, firm, city/state, credential, certification date, status) for individuals who earn a credential;
• maintain the security and integrity of the Services and prevent abuse;
• comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service.

3. Legal bases (where applicable)

Where the GDPR or similar laws apply, we process personal information on the following bases: performance of a contract (course access, credential issuance), our legitimate interests (operating and securing the Services), your consent (marketing emails, optional profile details), and legal obligation (tax, accounting, compliance).

4. How we share information

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with the service providers that make the Services work, and only as needed for them to perform their function on our behalf. These include:

• Stripe — payment processing;
• Supabase — hosting, database, and authentication infrastructure;
• Mux — video hosting and playback delivery;
• Resend — transactional and newsletter email delivery;
• Lovable — application hosting and AI-assisted features;
• professional advisors and authorities, where required by law or to protect our rights.

5. Public credential registry

If you earn a credential, we may list your name, firm, city/state, credential, certification date, and status in our public credential registry so that clients and the public can verify your standing. You can request removal at any time by contacting us; removal from the registry does not change your credential status.

6. Newsletter and email choices

Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link and one-click unsubscribe headers. Unsubscribing removes you from marketing emails but does not stop transactional messages required to operate your account or enrollments (for example, receipts, password resets, certificate delivery).

7. Data retention

We keep personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Services, maintain records of credentials issued, comply with legal obligations (tax, accounting), resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. When information is no longer needed, we delete or anonymize it.

8. Security

We use industry-standard technical and organizational safeguards, including encryption in transit, hashed and salted passwords managed by our authentication provider, and access controls. No online service is perfectly secure; you use the Services at your own risk and should keep your credentials confidential.

9. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, port, or restrict processing of your personal information, and to object to certain processing. California residents have additional rights under the CCPA/CPRA, including the right to know and delete personal information and the right to non-discrimination for exercising these rights. We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. To exercise any right, contact us at the address below; we will verify your request before responding.

10. Children's privacy

The Services are intended for adults working in the estate sale profession and are not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.

11. International users

IESP is based in the United States and the Services are hosted in the United States. If you access the Services from outside the U.S., your information will be processed in the U.S., which may have data-protection laws different from those of your country.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Effective" date above and, for material changes, notify you through the Services or by email.
